My Story

Hey there, I’m Shane! My journey to a plant-based diet all started when my father-in-law was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. At the time, I was a bacon double cheeseburger-loving guy who couldn’t imagine life without eggs cooked sunny side up. But after seeing the amazing transformation in my father-in-law’s health after adopting a whole food plant-based diet, I was inspired to give it a try myself.

In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was learning how to cook and what to buy. It was also tough navigating social situations with friends and family who didn’t understand my new lifestyle. But over time, I found more and more delicious plant-based foods and fell in love with how they made me feel – energized and satisfied without feeling weighed down or sick.

The Forks Over Knives and What the Health documentaries were significant inspirations, and I have a couple of cookbooks for the instant pot that really helped me in the beginning. As did having my partner and her parents making the same transition. Over time, from more research and from watching documentaries like Earthlings (watch with caution and care – its not something to take lightly), I became fully vegan.

My goal with this blog is to help people with things I struggled with and to answer questions I still get all the time. I hope to show that a vegan lifestyle is not only doable but can be enjoyable and delicious too!
